After a (not so) through investigation, I have come to the conclusion that it was the power of your art being on the front page that got you the attention. You'd be surprised on much power the front page can give a person, gaining followers was only just one of the benefits. Your art is also remarkable by default, so I'm sure that it can live up to people's expectations, as long as you continue to put in the effort.
